  Selecting A Steel Building Supplier

Selecting the right steel building supplier can vary depending on where you intend to locate your steel building. Regulations vary between Canada and the USA and also between States and Provinces.  Municipalities also have their own regulations regarding structures to be located within their jurisdiction.

Knowing this, it is obviously important to make certain that the supplier you are considering is providing product that conforms to both your federal and local building codes and will provide the highest level of weather protection and endurance possible.

Not all manufacturers use 100% AZM180 Galvalume Plus™ steel. Pioneer Steel uses nothing but the thickest coating of Galvalume Plus™ (AZM180 in Canada) for all gauge thicknesses and automatically includes longer and higher grade bolts for 18 gauge and thicker buildings. The majority of our competitors only offer AZ55 on 22 and 20 gauge buildings and then use galvanized coated steel on 18 and thicker gauges, carrying no warranty.

Some areas have specific regulations for steel buildings.  You will more than likely require a permit from your municipality prior to construction of your steel building.

In Canada for example, perhaps, one of the most important criteria is the CSA A660 Certification for Steel Building Systems.

Certification of Manufacturers of Steel Building Systems

“Steel building systems shall be manufactured by companies certified to the requirements of CSA-A660”
“……it is now mandatory that all Steel Building System manufacturers supplying buildings into Canada must be certified to CSA-A660”.

What is a CSA-A660 certification?  “The CSA-A660 Standard was developed to assist code enforcement officials in reviewing building permit submissions incorporating steel building systems and to help purchasers receive a quality certified building”.

Just remember, there are many things to consider before you decide on the steel building supplier that is right for you, so don’t be pushed into a spur of the moment decision based on price.  Consider all the factors and make sure you are getting quotes on the exact building you need.  It is also important to check references and look for companies that stand behind their product.
