Sustainable Steel Building Solutions from Pioneer Steel

Sustainable building solutions are becoming increasingly important in today's world. At Pioneer Steel, we have been at the forefront of this trend with our pre-engineered metal building kits. Our buildings are designed to reduce waste, use energy efficiently, and decrease the need for additional materials such as ductwork for HVAC systems. We achieve this through our clear-span designs and the use of AZ180 (AZ60) Galvalume Plus™ coated metal, known for its exceptional corrosion resistance and heat reflectivity.

In addition to its environmental benefits, Galvalume Plus™ metal also offers a high level of recycled content and can be easily recycled after use. This results in reduced waste, pollution, and carbon footprint for both Pioneer Steel and our customers.

Not only is steel the most recycled material in the world, but our buildings also exceed industry standards with a minimum of 25% recycled content and up to 95% depending on the manufacturing process used. With over 70 million tons of metal being recycled or exported annually in North America alone, we are proud to be part of this sustainable movement.

The Galvalume Plus™ coating protects against non-uniform weathering and reduces energy loads on buildings due to its bright surface that aids in heat reflectivity. Pioneer Steel’s Galvalume Plus™ coating maintains the EPA solar reflectance requirement of 0.65 on newly manufactured steel buildings and the minimum of 0.50 on roofs over three years of age. Galvalume Plus™ coated steel has been approved by the Energy Star program, both for low-slope and high-slope applications.

The Galvalume Plus™ coating also acts as a thermal barrier to keep the insides of steel buildings cool in summer. This means that Pioneer Steel buildings use less energy, hence saving you money and lowering your environmental impact through reduced energy costs over the life of the building.

Conversely, Pioneer Steel buildings not only reflect heat in summer, but also retain heat inside during cooler months, saving on heating costs and keeping the indoor environment healthy and comfortable all year round.

Pioneer Steel Buildings are designed to be adaptable for retrofitting quality Energy Efficient Windows, HVAC systems, insulation products along with solar systems for reduced electrical consumption, which results in a lesser strain on the power grid.

Since our steel manufacturer is located less than 50 km from our facility, the transport cost of raw material is much lower than a lot of our competitors, reducing traffic on the highways and vehicle emissions.
